Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
