Similar to bad weather hit the north-west the prior day, City swept Manchester United away at the their home ground. It was a statement three goal victory for their manager's side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that firmly established their leadership claims as they reinforced their standing at the top of the table.

Consecutive Defeats for Manchester United

This outcome signalled consecutive league defeats for Marc Skinner’s side for the initial occasion since May 2024, leaving them a significant margin off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions severely dented.

Manchester United's capability to balance league and continental football with a limited squad has been a hotly discussed topic since they secured entry to the European competition. Considering the calendar, it always felt like this was the matchday that would seriously challenge this ability. Unfortunately for the opposition, they looked weary throughout, the landmark win against Paris Saint-Germain clearly having taken a toll.

Lineup Adjustments
